The Central and Northern California is known for its deep historic, geographic and economic connections with Japan, and currently, over thirty-five thousand Japanese people live and work in the region, while Nevada is home to three thousand Japanese residents. While we provide various consular services to the Japanese nationals, we welcome inquiries about visa information from the foreign nationals. For assistance with your specific needs, please contact us or visit our webpages. For the Japanese nationals, we recommend that they sign up for overseas residence registration as well as emergency mail and delivery services.


As the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco, we also seek to promote mutual understanding of our countries and cultures. We hope to strengthen the friendship between Japan and California through our support for cultural programs. Profile of Consul General Hiroshi Inomata


Consul General Hiroshi Inomata graduated from Waseda University and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1978.

 

Consul General Inomata has worked in the Asian Affairs Bureau, Economic Cooperation Bureau, North American Affairs Bureau, Minister's Secretariat, International Legal Affairs Bureau and Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs Department as well as the Office of the Assistant Chief Cabinet Secretary. His overseas assignments have included Embassies of Japan in Bangkok, Washington D.C., London and Seoul. He began his tenure as the Consul General of Japan in San Francisco in September 2010.
