Quarantine system for dogs and cats
Dogs and cats from regions other than the designated regions
Dogs and cats from designated regions
Other animals, such as rabbits, require health certificates and must be detained for medical inspection upon their arrival in Japan. This certificate must be issued before the animal's arrival in Japan, prepared by a licensed veterinarian, and receive endorsement from the USDA Office of Veterinary Services. To arrange

At the present time, other commonly kept pets such as guinea pigs, squirrels,
rodents, reptiles, amphibians and fish are not required to be quarantined.
Please note that the import and export of endangered plant and animal species are prohibited by international treaty. |

Animal Quarantine Service (MAFF)
Ducks, turkeys, quail, geese, chickens, cows, deer, etc., require quarantine.
To arrange this, please contact the Animal Quarantine offices in Japan at 011-81-45-751-5921.
Monkeys also must be quarantined. Please notify the Animal Quarantine offices
well in advance of the monkey's arrival in Japan at 011-81-45-751-5921.
Please be aware that there are restrictions on the import and export of endangered
species as listed in international treaties and Japan's Domestic Law.
