3Teacher-Training Students Scholarships

Study at a Japanese University

The Japanese government is offering scholarships to Americans who wish to conduct research on school education at Japanese universities.


To apply, applicants must:

1 Hold U.S. citizenship;
2 Be born on or after April 2, 1976;
3 Be a graduate of a university or a teacher-training school and have worked as a teacher of an elementary or secondary educational institution or a teacher-training school in the United States for at least five years in total as of April 1, 2011. (In-service university faculty members are not eligible.);
 
4 Be willing to learn Japanese and receive research guidance in Japanese.

The term is between October 2011 and March 2013, which is the period necessary to complete each university¡Çs training course. In addition, scholarship recipients must able to arrive in Japan within two weeks of the starting date of the study course set by the university (Programs begin in October as a general rule).


APPLICATION DEADLINE: Application must be received by 5:00 pm on Thursday, March 10, 2011


All applicants are required to take both an English and Japanese language examination, and an interview will follow the exams. The examination will be conducted on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at the Japan Information Center (detail will be informed upon receipt of your application form).
