On April 8th, 2016, a pre-departure orientation for the 2016 Japan Exchange & Teaching (JET) Program early departure candidates was held at Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco.
The two early departures this year are Maria Castillo and Katherine Veal, who will be going to Koriyama City in Fukushima Prefecture, and Katherine Veal, who will be going to Takasaki City in Gunma. Both of them will be helping to teach English and American culture in local schools as Assistant Language Teachers.
The two outbound JETs had this to say:
Maria Celeste Castillo “I’m looking forward to teaching and learning from my students! Also, I am excited to go to onsen and learn about the local culture of Koriyama. Thank you JET for this opportunity.”
Katherine Veal “I am excited to learn about my students’ interests and share games and activities with them. I also look forward to exploring my new hometown in Takasaki and the many experiences that await me.”
