School Visit Program (Davis High School)
2017/3/16

On April 15, staff members of the Consulate General of Japan gave a presentation on the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake to a Japanese class at Davis High School. They were joined by Mr. Hiroto Nishikawa, an exchange student from Japan currently studying at UC Davis.
Mr. Goldman in his presentation gave a chronological overview of the tragic event including details of the extent of the damage, the recovery and reconstruction process and the fundraising efforts of local communities and individuals in Northern California on behalf of the regions affected. Then Mr. Nishikawa, who is from the Tohoku region, shared his personal experiences as a volunteer in the affected areas and also described the charm of Tohoku, encouraging the students to visit the beautiful region. The students had many questions and were deeply moved by the presentations.
