Consulate Staff member talks about Japan’s Kawaii culture
Students listen attentively to Consulate staff member talk about “Kawaii” and Japanese pop culture
On May 4, staff members from the Consulate gave a presentation titled “What is Kawaii?” to the members of the Japanese Culture Club at the City College of San Francisco. They talked about the history of the concept of “kawaii” in Japanese popular culture, the use of “kawaii” in the marketing of commercial products and the variations of “kawaii” that are popular in Japan and abroad. The club members were really interested in the presentation and asked many questions of the presenters.
