San Francisco Japantown Foundation Annual New Year’s Celebration

On Thursday, January 5, Consul General Yamada attended the San Francisco Japantown Foundation’s annual New Year event at Hotel Kabuki in Japantown.
Those delivering remarks included former Executive Director of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Northern California (JCCNC) Ms. Junko Nakagawa, followed by a toast from Consul General Yamada. A mochi-tsuki (ceremonial rice-pounding demonstration) was also presented by Kagami Kai, followed by a taiko performance from the San Francisco Taiko Dojo. Attendees were able to enjoy osechi ryori (special Japanese New Year’s dishes) at this special annual event.
