On Thursday, April 6th, Consul General Jun Yamada attended the 2017 Immigrants Heritage Awards hosted by the Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation (AIISF) at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Francisco. At the event, the Foundation recognized the following honorees: Mr. Ieoh Ming Pei, Secretary Norman Mineta, Mr. Jerry Yang, Dr. Herbert Lee, and the Indian Community Center.

AIISF raises awareness of the experience of immigration into America through the Pacific. They collect and preserve the rich stories and personal journeys of thousands of immigrants, and share them with visitors and everyone living in America through education initiatives and public programs.
