On May 18, Consul General Yamada attended a Farewell Ceremony for the Japanese Bilingual Bicultural Program (JBBP) at Rosa Parks Elementary School and congratulated the 37 graduating 5th graders with these words, " As you prepare to enter middle school, I encourage you to continue with your Japanese studies and strive to become a ‘kakehashi’’, a ‘bridge of friendship’ between Japan and the United States." Following the ceremony, Consul General Yamada took part in a Cherry Tree planting ceremony on the school grounds.
