On Thursday, May 18, Consul General Yamada attended a ceremony in Modesto to celebrate the 25th sister city anniversary of Modesto and Kurume. Mayor Toshinori Narahara led a delegation from Kurume, Japan, to Modesto, California, to join the ceremony and celebrate this milestone. At the ceremony, Modesto Mayor Ted Brandvold and Mayor Narahara gave remarks and exchanged gifts. Consul General Yamada also delivered his own congratulatory remarks. Over 50 citizens from Modesto participated to celebrate the longstanding friendship between their two cities.
