Foreign Minister’s Commendation for FY 2017

On Thursday, June 29, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the recipients of the Foreign Minister’s Commendations for 2017. This year, Commendations will be awarded to 187 individuals and 45 organizations (27 individuals and 9 organizations are from Japan, and 160 individuals and 36 organizations are from overseas). Within the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco’s jurisdiction, the following 2 individuals and 1 organization have been selected for their contributions to the promotion of mutual understanding between the United States and Japan.
 

• Manuel F. Cunha. Jr. (Nisei Farmers League, President)
• Richard Hashimoto (Corporate Manager, Japan Center Garage Corporation)
• Fujiyasu Corporation

The Foreign Minister’s Commendations are awarded to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in international fields, to acknowledge their contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries and areas. The Commendations also aim to promote the understanding and support of the Japanese public towards the activities of recipients.
