“Art and Things of Everyday Life!”

2017/8/9
The Japan Information and Cultural Center at the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco is proud to present the exhibit “Art and Things of Everyday Life” from August 24, through October 6, 2017. This exhibit features the artwork of Sush Machida, a Japanese artist living in Las Vegas.

The basis of Japanese traditional art is closely entwined with the daily lives of the Japanese people. Scenes of everyday moments and landscapes were often the subject of Ukiyo-e, Japanese woodblock prints. Traditional Japanese motifs reflect common geometric patterns and people’s relationship with nature.

Sush Machida integrates Japanese traditional art and themes with modern design and commonplace items such as lipstick and snowboards. His art is a unique and vibrant commentary on the junction between old and new, and East and West.

This exhibit includes Mr. Machida’s mixed media illustrations and several new works specially created for this exhibit.
We hope you will be able to visit our gallery.
