On Friday, September 22, Deputy Consul General Shoichi Nagayoshi participated in the 2017 UC Hastings Japanese law symposium “Hate Speech Laws in Japan in Comparative Perspectives” and delivered remarks at its Concluding Session. At the symposium, where eminent scholars and practitioners from the US and Japan participated as speakers and panelists, lively discussions were also made on the current legal state of play and challenges the US has faced in dealing with the issue of hate speech.
