On Saturday, September 30, Consul General Yamada attended an event celebrating the San Francisco Taru Mikoshi Ren’s 50 years of activites. The San Francisco Taru Mikoshi is a traditional Japanese shrine that has been carried in the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival’s annual Grand Parade since the first festival 50 years ago. On this occasion, Consul General Yamada presented the group with the Consul General’s Commendation for many years of promoting understanding and friendship between Japan and this region.
