On Saturday, November 11, Deputy Consul General Shoichi Nagayoshi attended the 75th Anniversary of the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal held at the USS San Francisco Memorial at Land’s End in San Francisco. The USS San Francisco was a heavy cruiser that operated in World War II. Many Sailors and Marines were killed in action aboard the USS San Francisco during the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal in November 1942. As this year is the 75th Anniversary of the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal, the USS San Francisco Memorial Foundation coordinated a memorial program, and Deputy Consul General Nagayoshi was an invited guest speaker. In his remarks, on behalf of the people and government of Japan, Deputy Consul General Nagayoshi offered our condolences to the souls who lost their lives in the war and renewed our determination to maintain peace and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region for future generations.
