On Wednesday, November 15, the Sacramento Chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) hosted their annual Community Awards Dinner in Sacramento. Former JACL Executive Director Pricilla Ouchida served as the night's emcee. The reception began with remarks by Ms. Sydney Lewis, Field Representative for U.S. Senator Kamala D. Harris's office. Then the 2018 Chapter Officers and Board Members headed by Ms. Janice Luszczak were formally installed. After that, Sacramento JACL presented awards to four community leaders: 1) Barbara Kado, Chair of the Sacramento Japanese Film Festival Committee, 2) Mr. Masahiro Nakada, CEO/Founder of Salada Cosmo USA Corp., 3) Mr. Dale Shimasaki, Former member of the California Civil Liberties Education Program Advisory Committee, 4) Ms. Janet Takehara, Culinary Director of JACL Sacramento's Crab Feed. Consul General Jun Yamada attended this reception and delivered remarks. He expressed his sincere appreciation to Sacramento JACL for its significant contribution to the Japanese American community at large, and congratulated the four honorees.
