Annual Bell Ringing Ceremony at the Asian Art Museum

On Sunday, December 31, Consul General Jun Yamada attended and gave remarks at the 32nd Annual Japanese New Year’s Bell Ringing Ceremony hosted by the Asian Art Museum. During this event, attendees have the chance to experience a Japanese New Year tradition locally by closing out the previous year and ringing in the new.
The event began with a purification ritual and chanting of the Buddhist Heart Sutra by Reverend Gengo Akiba. Consul General Yamada and Asian Art Museum Deputy Director Dr. Robert Mintz then rang the bell, followed by members of the Museum and general public, welcoming a happy 2018.
