Greeting by Consul General Yamada
On Wednesday, January 17, Consul General Jun Yamada hosted a New Year’s celebration at his official residence. About 330 guests attended the event.

On the residence’s terrace, mochi-tsuki (ceremonial rice-pounding) was performed by Kagami Kai, a volunteer organization which teaches traditional Japanese culture. Bamboo and pine decorations for the New Year were placed around the entrance, and ikebana flower arrangements by Ikenobo Ikebana were displayed in the residence. Guests were also able to enjoy osechi ryori (Japanese New Year’s food) throughout the evening.
