Event: The Evolving US-Japan Security Alliance and What it Means for Regional Security

On Thursday, January 18, the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco, in partnership with the Japan Society of Northern California presented the program “The Evolving US-Japan Security Alliance and What it Means for Regional Security”. The event featured Mr. Masanori Nishi (Former Administrative Vice Minister of Defense, MOD, and Visiting Fellow at CSIS), Ambassador Michael Armacost (Former U.S. Ambassador to Japan and Shorenstein APARC Fellow at Stanford University), and Ambassador David Shear (Former Assistant Secretary of Defense for Asian and Pacific Security Affairs). The program included a panel discussion and Q&A session over topics like the evolving U.S.-Japan security alliance, its impact on regional security, challenges related to North Korea, the East and South China Seas, and how Japan is posed to undertake an even more important leadership role in Asian Security.
