New Year’s Reception in Nevada
2018/1/31

On Thursday, January 25, Consul General Jun Yamada, together with Honorary Consul General in Las Vegas Kathleen Blakely, hosted a New Year’s celebration in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Around 100 guests joined the reception, including Nevada Assemblymember Keith Pickard, representatives of state and local governments, representatives from local Japan-affiliated companies, and members of community organizations.
In his remarks, Consul General Yamada expressed his appreciation for the efforts and initiatives by all guests to enhance the friendship between Japan and the state of Nevada. Following the Consul General’s remarks, several guests participated in a kagami biraki (ceremonial sake cask opening ceremony), and Assemblymember Pickard offered his own greetings to mark the occasion.
Throughout the venue, beautiful ikebana flower arrangements from the Sogetsu School were on display. Guests enjoyed live music performed by Ninjazz while partaking in lively conversation for the remainder of the event.
