On Saturday, March 17, Consul General and Mrs. Uyama attended the 55th Anniversary Celebration of the Ikenobo Ikebana Society Northern California Chapter. In the morning, Consul General Uyama participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the flower show and in the evening, he gave remarks at the banquet. Also in attendance were the 45th Ikenobo Headmaster, Mr. Sen’ei Ikenobo, and the Headmaster Designate, Ms. Senko Ikenobo, both visiting from Ikenobo Headquarters in Japan. Ikebana is the traditional Japanese art of flower arranging. Ikenobo is over 550 years old and is recognized as the original school of Ikebana.
