On Saturday, March 24, a welcome ceremony for a junior high school student delegation from Iizuka, Japan was held by the Sunnyvale Sister City Association at the Sunnyvale Community Center. Consul General Uyama, along with Sunnyvale School District Superintendent Dr. Benjamin Picard, and Assistant Superintendent Thomas Avvakumovits, delivered remarks to the attendees, including Sunnyvale Mayor Glenn Hendricks, Vice Mayor Larry Klein, Sunnyvale Sister City Association President Mark Kato, and local host families. The delegation, led by Iizuka Superintendent of Education Daisuke Nishi, was warmly welcomed by the citizens of Sunnyvale.
