51st Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival and Sakura Classic Kendama Contest
2018/4/4

The 51st Annual Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival will be held on the weekends of April 14-15 and 21-22 in San Francisco Japantown. Every year, over 200,000 people visit the festival, making it one of the largest festivals of its kind in the United States. The festival will also feature sights, sounds, and flavors of Japan for the visitors of all ages.
This year, the Consulate General of Japan will be partnering with the festival to present the 4th Sakura Classic Northern California Kendama Championship on the first weekend of the festival, Saturday and Sunday, April 14-15. Finals will be held on the Peace Plaza Stage on Sunday, April 15 starting at 5:15 PM. Kendama is a traditional Japanese ball-and-cup toy that has recently seen a boom in both America and Japan with innovative and expressive tricks and styles.
The Consulate General of Japan will also hold its information booth throughout both weekends with information on travel, culture, and education. We hope you will celebrate with us.
