Film Screening, “Paper Lanterns” at Asian Art Museum

On Thursday, May 24th, Consul General Uyama gave remarks at the screening of the film Paper Lanterns. The screening was organized by the Japan Society of Northern California and Asian Art Museum. Director Barry Frechette and Mr. Shigeaki Mori, the subject of the film, who dedicated his life to track down and reach out to the families of American POWs who died from atomic bomb in Hiroshima, traveled from Japan to attend the screening and participated in a Q&A. Mr. Mori spoke about the horrors of war and advocated for the abolition of nuclear weapons.
