On Thursday, May 31, Consul General Uyama attended a Farewell Ceremony for the Japanese Bilingual Bicultural Program (JBBP) at Rosa Parks Elementary School and congratulated the 36 graduating 5th graders with these words, "as graduates of this program, you have become a kind of “kakehashi” or bridge connecting Japan and America. I urge you to please share the valuable knowledge you have gained with others and do your part to help promote U.S.-Japan friendship”. Following the ceremony, Consul General Uyama took part in a Cherry Tree planting ceremony on the school grounds in celebration of the 45th anniversary of JBBP.
