On Sunday, July 15, Consul General Uyama attended the San Jose Obon Festival in San Jose’s Japantown. Around 910 people in colorful, traditional festival wear enjoyed dancing at the event and watching performances by several taiko groups, including San Jose Taiko. On the same day, Consul General Uyama awarded the Consul General’s Commendation to Mr. Jim McClure, Former Chairman of San Jose Obon Matsuri, for his 18 years of contribution as a leader of this very important community cultural festival.
