On Monday, July 23, Consul General Uyama hosted a conferment ceremony and reception for the 2018 Spring Decoration bestowed upon Mr. Stephen Korenori Nakajo.
 
Mr. Nakajo was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays, for his contributions to improving the welfare of Japanese Americans in the United States and promoting mutual understanding between the United States and Japan through his efforts in co-founding and running Kimochi, Inc., as well as lecturing on Asian American Studies at San Francisco State University.
 
Approximately 90 people, including friends and family of Mr. Nakajo and members of the Japanese and Japanese American community in the Bay Area, were in attendance to celebrate Mr. Nakajo’s numerous achievements.
