On Thursday, August 9, Consul General Tomochika Uyama attended the TOMODACHI Softbank Leadership Program Graduation Ceremony at St. Mary’s College of California in Moraga. One hundred high school students from Iwate, Fukushima, and Miyagi Prefectures participated in the program over three weeks, staying with host families, joining leadership workshops, and taking courses at UC Berkeley. Consul General Uyama delivered remarks to the students in Japanese at the graduation ceremony, commending them on successfully engaging with the United States through this program, and adding that he expected all of them to be global citizens in the future.
