On Sunday, September 9, Consul General Uyama attended and gave remarks at San Francisco Taiko Dojo’s 50th Anniversary reception. Also in attendance were a number of Japanese and American taiko industry professionals and players, many of whom were former students of the Dojo’s founder Grandmaster Seiichi Tanaka. Attendees enjoyed a special performance by San Francisco Taiko Dojo.
San Francisco Taiko Dojo was founded in 1968 by Grandmaster Seiichi Tanaka, making it one of the first taiko groups in North America.
