On Monday, September 24, Consul General Tomochika Uyama hosted a Foreign Minister’s Commendation Conferment Ceremony for Mrs. Sandy Mori. Mrs. Mori co-founded Kimochi, Inc. in 1971 to offer support for the Issei (first-generation Japanese Americans) in San Francisco’s Japantown. Since then, Mrs. Mori has demonstrated strong and effective leadership in the community. Mrs. Mori currently serves as President of the Board of Directors for the San Francisco Japantown Task Force, which aims to preserve and revitalize San Francisco's Japantown, one of three remaining historic Japantowns in the United States.

Approximately 90 people, including friends and family of Mrs. Mori and members of the Japanese and Japanese American communities in the Bay Area, were in attendance to celebrate her numerous achievements.
