A Lecture by Japanese Architect Takaharu Tezuka

On Monday, October 15 and Tuesday, October 16, the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco, in partnership with UC Berkeley’s Department of Architecture at the College of Environmental Design, the UC Berkeley Center for Japanese Studies, and the Academy of Art University’s School of Architecture, presented “Nostalgic Future”, a set of twin lectures by renowned Japanese Architect Takaharu Tezuka.

Deputy Consul General Nagayoshi attended and gave remarks on the first day. Across both lectures, more than 350 total from the universities, local architects, and community organizations participated and enjoyed Mr. Tezuka’s lecture.

About Takaharu Tezuka

Takaharu Tezuka is a Professor at Tokyo City University and established Tezuka Architects in Japan in 1994 with his wife Yui Tezuka. Their unconventional and unique projects have been recognized internationally and their recent awards include the Architectural Institute of Japan’s Annual Architectural Commendations (2016), UNESCO’s Global Award for Sustainable Architecture (2017), and the Moriyama RAIC International Prize (2017).
