On Thursday, November 1, Consul General Tomochika Uyama attended the keynote lecture of the “Japan in the Pacific World” symposium, hosted by the Hoover Institution and Center for East Asian Studies at Stanford University. Consul General Uyama congratulated the Hoover Institution on its centennial anniversary and the Center for East Asian Studies on its 50th anniversary. He also noted that this year marks the 150th anniversary of Japan’s Meiji Restoration. Dr. Mark Ravina of Emory University gave the keynote lecture on the Meiji Restoration as seen within a global context.
