Remarks by Honorary Consul General of Japan in Nevada, Ms. Blakely
On Wednesday, November 28, the Elgin Heinz Outstanding Teacher Award was presented to Ms. Manami Mata, a Japanese teacher at a presentation ceremony held at Edward W. Clark High School in Las Vegas, Nevada. Since 2004, Mata Sensei has taught Japanese language and Japanese culture to some 170 students at Clark High School. In recognition for her outstanding contributions to Japanese language education in Nevada, she has been honored with this prestigious award. In attendance at the presentation ceremony were Mr. Daniel M. Tani, Grant Director of the US-Japan Foundation, Ms. Kathleen Blakely, Honorary Consul General of Las Vegas, and Mr. Wayne Tanaka, former Honorary Consul General of Japan and former Clark High School Principal who offered their congratulations.
