Screening of “Persona Non Grata” in San Francisco

On Wednesday, February 13, the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco, Asia Society Northern California, and American Jewish Committee (AJC) San Francisco co-sponsored a screening of the film “Persona Non Grata” at Landmark Theater Embarcadero Cinema for over 100 guests.
Before the screening, Consul General Tomochika Uyama gave opening remarks, followed by remarks from Mr. Iwao Horii and Ms. Rui Matsukawa, visiting Members of the Japanese House of Councillors (the equivalent of U.S. Senators) from Japan, and a brief welcome from Deputy Consul General Ravit Baer of Israel.
After the screening, Director Cellin Gluck and Ms. Debby Graudenz, daughter of Sugihara Survivor Rabbi Samuel (“Isi”) participated in a panel discussion. San Francisco Supervisor Aaron Peskin also attended the screening and introduced the panelists to the audience. Additionally, Member Horii and Member Matsukawa were able to have a conversation with California State Senator Scott Wiener, who stopped by before the screening began.
