From February 24 through March 2, 24 students from Meijo University (together with their two tour leaders) visited the SF Bay Area as part of the Japanese government’s “Kakehashi Program” to promote mutual understanding between Japan and the US. On Monday, February 25, to get a deeper understanding of the purpose of their trip, they visited the Consulate and listened to a presentation by Deputy Consul General Iryu on Japan-San Francisco relations and the Consulate activities. Mr. Arai from JINS Eyewear also gave a presentation on the activities of Japanese businesses in the Bay area. During their week-long visit, the students learned about the local business environment, the economy, local diplomacy, and visited universities and various facilities and sites learning their historical significance.
