On Friday, March 8, participants of the “Walk in U.S., Talk on Japan” (※) program visited the final stop of their tour at the University of California, Davis, to give lectures on their specialized fields. This year, the participants gave lectures on kyogen theater, Japanese corporate culture, Japanese school lunches, and astronomy. Many students interested in Japanese culture participated in this informative event. The students were eager to ask questions to the speakers, and enjoyed sharing their thoughts on the topics. In the evening, a reception for the program was held at the Consul General’s official residence. Many sister-city community members and university professors and students joined the reception.

(※) From 2014 onwards, the “Walk in U.S., Talk on Japan” Program has taken place in various regions of the U.S., highlighting Japan’s attractiveness and appeal. Participants from Japan who have volunteered to join the program come from diverse a range of backgrounds, but all have some connection to the U.S. While travelling through various major U.S. cities, each group takes part in local grassroots exchanges, discussing important factors of the future of the Japan-U.S. relationship, and recent positive developments in Japan.
