On Monday, March 18, Consul General Tomochika Uyama attended a forum at Stanford University called “Japan in the Bay Area: From Competition to Collaboration,” co-hosted by Bay Area Council and Stanford University’s Asia-Pacific Research Center (APARC). Consul General Uyama and Mr. Jim Wunderman, Bay Area Council President and CEO, delivered welcome remarks, followed by an introduction to ongoing research on Japan’s economic engagement in the Bay Area by Dr. Sean Randolph, Senior Director at the Bay Area Council Economic Institute. Lively panel discussions were held on the themes of “The Emerging New Japan” and “Japanese Companies in Silicon Valley Creating Value in New Ways.”
