Pre-departure Orientation for the 2019 JET Program Early Departure Participants

On April 12, the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco held a pre-departure orientation for the 2019 Japan Exchange & Teaching (JET) Program early departure participants. This year’s group of early departure JETs will be working as Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) in Chiba Prefecture, Kyoto Prefecture, and Okayama Prefecture. When asked about his upcoming time in Japan, outbound JET Garrett Omi had this to say: “[I’m] very excited to get back in touch with my Japanese roots and heritage. As a 4thgeneration Japanese-American -or yonsei- Japan has always been close and distant to who I am. I cannot wait for the stories I will create and discover.”
