On Saturday, April 27, the Second Redding Cherry Blossom Festival was held in Redding in Shasta County. Vice Consul Nomura attended and gave remarks during the opening ceremony. The Consulate also held an information booth with information on Japanese culture, sightseeing, and the JET Program.

The festival, held at a local middle school, featured karate demonstrations, a kimono fashion show, and a children’s chorus. Both Awa Odori dancers from Japan and a performance by Shasta Taiko were well-received.

Additionally, booths introducing Wagyu beef and Japanese green tea were enjoyed by attendees.
