Reception Celebrating the Accession to the Throne of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan

On Thursday, May 30, Consul General Tomochika Uyama hosted a reception at his official residence in celebration of the accession to the throne of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan. Approximately 150 guests were in attendance, including leaders of California from various fields, representatives from the local Japanese community, and members of the Consular Corps.
In his remarks, California State Senator Scott Wiener said that he was personally committed to strengthening the precious and important relationship between the United States and Japan. Mrs. Charlotte Mailliard Shultz, Chief of Protocol for the City and County of San Francisco, read a congratulatory letter from Mayor London Breed, followed by a toast given by Mr. George P. Shultz, the 60th Secretary of State of the United States.
Consul General Uyama showcased a congratulatory commendation from the City of Millbrae, and a resolution offering congratulations to His Majesty the Emperor of Japan from the Speaker of the California State Assembly Anthony Rendon and Assemblymembers Al Muratsuchi and David Chiu.
