Foreign Minister’s Commendations for FY 2019

On Tuesday, July 16, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the recipients of the Foreign Minister’s Commendations for 2019. This year, Commendations will be awarded to 206 individuals and 63 organizations. Within the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco’s jurisdiction, the following four individuals and one organization have been selected for their contributions to the strengthening of relations between the United States and Japan.

The Foreign Minister’s Commendations are awarded to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in international fields, to acknowledge their contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries and areas. The Commendations also aim to promote the understanding and support of the Japanese public towards the activities of recipients.

Mr. Katsuyuki Takahashi, Chef for the Consulate General of Japan, will also be awarded the Foreign Minister’s Commendation for excellent Chefs for Ambassadors/Consuls-General of Japan and will receive the title “Excellent Executive Chef for Ambassador/Consul-General of Japan”. The Foreign Minister’s Commendations for the chefs and the title are awarded in recognition of the significance of the chefs’ contributions to diplomatic activities and also to facilitate the recruitment of highly qualified chefs in the future.
