On Tuesday, July 23, the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco hosted “Flower & Film”, an evening exploring Japanese traditional and modern culture in Las Vegas.
During the event, Ms. Kika Shibata of the Sogetsu School gave a live demonstration and display of Japanese flower arranging (Ikebana). This was followed by a screening of the film “The Old Capital”, which is based on the novel by Yasunari Kawabata and showcases the beauty and spirit of Japan through life in Kyoto and Japanese traditional culture.
