JET Program Pre-departure Orientation & Farewell Reception

On Friday, August 2nd, the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco held a Pre-Departure Orientation for the 92 new participants of the 2019 JET Program, followed by a Farewell Reception hosted by Consul General Uyama at his official residence. On the following day, the JETs left San Francisco to Japan, and will head to their designated prefectures after a 3 day orientation in Tokyo.

*JET Program stands for Japan Exchange and Teaching Program. This program is operated through a partnership between the Ministries of Japan and local governments, and invites young people around the world to provide them opportunities to teach languages, sports, etc., in elementary, junior-high and high schools in Japan, and to work in local governments in order to promote international exchange in local communities.
