Ms. Hoyrup gives her speech
On Tuesday, August 13, Consul General Uyama hosted a reception in honor of Ms. Fusako Hoyrup, recipient of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays.

Ms. Hoyrup was conferred the award for her contributions to the promulgation and growth of Japanese culture in the United States through Ikebana (Japanese flower arranging). Ms. Hoyrup is the founding president of the Wafu School of Ikebana California Chapter.

Approximately 70 people, including friends and colleagues of Ms. Hoyrup, as well as members of the Bay Area ikebana community attended to celebrate Ms. Hoyrup’s achievements.
