On Friday, September 20, Deputy Consul General Iryu attended the planting of second generation saplings from Hiroshima at the Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park. The gingko trees are second generation descendants of trees that survived the nuclear bomb explosion on Hiroshima.

The planting honored former U.S. Secretary of State George Schultz and Mrs. Charlotte Schultz for their advocacy for nuclear disarmament.
