Consul General Uyama delivers congratulatory remarks
On Wednesday, October 2, Consul General Uyama hosted a conferment ceremony and reception at his official residence for Ms. Janice Mirikitani, recipient of the Foreign Minister’s Commendation. Ms. Mirikitani, with her husband, the Reverend Dr. Cecil Williams, were co-founders of the GLIDE Foundation, which has helped and empowered San Francisco’s poor and marginalized communities. Ms. Mirikitani, San Francisco’s second Poet Laureate, has also played a leading role in the arts, leading the way for other Japanese and Japanese American artists.
