On Sunday, October 6, Deputy Consul General Iryu attended the United Nations Flag Raising Ceremony, hosted by the United Nations Association (UNA) East Bay Chapter at Jack London Square in Oakland, CA. During the event, a parade of U.N. flags, which included the Japanese flag, was also held. Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, members of the San Francisco Consular Corps, and local community leaders joined the ceremony, raising awareness on the importance of supporting the United Nations, as well as the diversity and spirit of internationalism.
