The 10th Aki Matsuri in Las Vegas

On Saturday, October 26, the 10th Aki Matsuri (Fall Festival) of Nevada was held at The Park on the Las Vegas strip. Consul General Uyama attended the day-long event with Honorary Consul Blakely and other Consulate staff. He gave remarks during the opening ceremony, also awarding his Consul General’s Commendation to the festival organizers, the Japanese Festival Association of Nevada.
Festival attendees enjoyed traditional and modern Japanese cultural performances and activities including kimono dressing, taiko drumming, ikebana workshops, Japanese dance, and Japanese food of all kinds. The festival also offered a Sake Pavilion featuring over 50 types of Japanese sake for attendees to try. The Consulate held an information booth with materials and information on Japanese travel, culture, and the JET Program.
