On Saturday, November 2, Deputy Consul General Iryu attended the 244th Marine Corps Birthday Ball at the invitation of the Wine Country Marines. At the event, U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) Retired Lieutenant General Lawrence Nicholson delivered remarks, in particular stressing the importance of U.S.-Japan cooperation and the bilateral security alliance. Other attendees had experience serving in U.S. Forces Japan and expressed their gratitude to the country of Japan for its support.
