2019 Autumn Conferment of Decorations

On November 3, 2019 (Japan Time), the Government of Japan announced the recipients of the 2019 Autumn Conferment of Japanese Decorations.
Among the 136 foreign recipients, Ms. Sandy Mori, who resides within the Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco’s jurisdiction, has been recognized. Ms. Mori will receive the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays.

Summary of Contributions
In 1971, Ms. Mori cofounded Kimochi, Inc., which provides various services for senior Japanese Americans in Northern California. Services include Kimochi Home, Kimochi Senior Center, Kimochi Lounge, and social services and family caregiver programs.
Ms. Mori serves as President of the Board of Directors of Japantown Task Force, Inc. This organization contributes to the preservation of San Francisco’s Japantown, which has more than 110 years of history since it was built in 1906 and is among the only three remaining Japantowns in the United States.
